Driving south from Lisbon and the Tagus river, lies the enchanting province of Alentejo. Alentejo meaning " Beyond the tejo river"

Castles on mountain tops, Roman ruins, remnants of Arab culture. No where like here in TRUE ALENTEJO will you find such interesting places to visit.
The whitewashed houses and laid back atmoshere of the villages. The village people relaxed, sitting around their little houses in the evening breeze, after a long days work in the fields.
They talk about days gone by, when donkies pulled ploughs and tractors were never heard of. One gets a sense of going back in time. The ladies still respectful of their families gone, dressed in black for eternity. The young children playing in the village parks. One starts to feel the tranquility of the region.
The region is famous for its cork trees, olive trees and the views of the vast tranquil plains are a pleasure to behold.
The Taberna on the corner, the restaurants with traditional food and the superb local wines. Fields of purple and white and the red poppies of spring greet you as you approach this vast province. The largest province in Portugal.
Beja being the capital (pax julia). Evora the beautiful Unesco world heritage town, which is just 20 minutes from the Quinta.
The Quinta, is within the triangle of 3 villages, Viana do Alentejo, Vila Nova da Baronia and Alvito. All within the district of Beja. The original little cottage is 60 years old. Added onto, it has been restored and is now "Rose Cottage". A very special place for relaxing holidays for two, set in 5 hectares of olive groves.
